Our commitment
Axis is an initiative of Believe. These standards explain how Axis prevents and responds to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
These standards apply to every person and all content on Axis, regardless of the age audience selected for the app. They form part of the rules governing use of Axis.
What Axis prohibits
Axis strictly prohibits any content or conduct that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a child. A child is anyone under 18 years old.
- Creating, uploading, requesting, storing, sharing, promoting, or distributing CSAM, including real, altered, or computer-generated depictions.
- Grooming or attempting to build trust with a child for sexual purposes, sexual conversations with a child, or soliciting sexual imagery or contact.
- Sextortion, sexualization of a child, trafficking or solicitation of a child for sexual exploitation, and threats or coercion involving intimate imagery.
- Links, instructions, coded language, or other activity that facilitates, normalizes, or encourages CSAE.
How to report a concern
Users can report content without leaving the Axis app. Open the safety options for the relevant post or question, choose Report post or Report question, and select the reason that best describes the concern. Users can also block another account from the same safety menu.
For a child-safety concern, or if the in-app control is unavailable, email the designated Axis child-safety contact below. Include the relevant post, question, or profile and only the information needed for us to locate and review it. Do not download, copy, or forward suspected CSAM.
How Axis responds
Axis records in-app reports for review and may use automated and human moderation to identify content that violates these standards. We prioritize reports involving possible harm to a child.
- Remove or disable access to prohibited content when we obtain actual knowledge of it.
- Restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts involved in CSAE and prevent further access where appropriate.
- Preserve information needed for an investigation when permitted or required by law.
- Cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and child-safety authorities.
CSAM reporting and enforcement
Axis takes appropriate action on confirmed CSAM in accordance with these standards and applicable law. This includes reporting confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or the relevant regional authority when required, while avoiding actions that could interfere with an official investigation.
A violation may result in immediate content removal and account suspension or termination. Serious or repeated violations may also be referred to the appropriate authorities.
Compliance and review
Axis complies with applicable child-safety laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where it operates. We review these standards and our enforcement procedures as the service and legal requirements evolve.
We may update this page to reflect changes to Axis or the law. The current version and its effective date will remain publicly available here.
Child-safety contact
The designated contact for child-safety concerns and questions about Axis's CSAE prevention and enforcement practices is axis@believe-africa.com.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or law enforcement first.
